Bedford Academy Welcomes Olympian Richard Dalton

Bedford Academy was honoured to host Olympian, Richard Dalton during our most recent School Assembly. Richard competed for Canada at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games in sprint canoe. This Haligonian has won two World Championship bronze medals and aims to win more medals for Canada at the 2009 World Canoe Championships which will be held in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, as well a gold medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The Academy students were thrilled when Richard presented the Olympic Torch for the children to touch and carry. Several of the Academy pupils have submitted their names to the Olympic Committee in hopes of being selected as torch bearers for designated kms of the cross Canada journey the torch will travel prior to the Games. To be able to see the actual torch beforehand was a special privilege for all Bedford Academy students.
